The year is 1901. Determined to set out on his own and see what remains of the untamed west, the now twenty-one-year-old Andrew Thompson, accepts a job with an aging rancher in southern Colorado. He quickly discovers long days filled with hard work, which challenge his resolve. Just as a friendship with the irascible old rancher begins to take shape, a tragic event occurs one night, which changes everything. Alone and afraid, Andrew flees further west to avoid the men sent to hunt him down for a crime he did not commit. Along the way, Andrew encounters Jeb Slate, a war veteran and boxcar hobo. The two become friends and start on a journey through Wyoming and into Montana to escape their past and find a hidden fortune within the mountain wilderness. But can Andrew escape the men who pursue him and discover the courage to confront his own conscience and uncover the hidden truth? Signs of Courage is the exciting sequel to Signs of Life.
