This book contains the letters written home while Sgt. Arvin Foss served during our Civil War. Sgt. Foss fought with the 106th Pennsylvania Infantry, which was part of the famed Philadelphia Brigade, Army of the Potomac. He enlisted in 1861 and endured some of the war's toughest battles and campaigns before being mortally wounded at the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House in Virginia on May 12th, 1864. Here is his story in his own words during the time away from his family while he served "God and Country".
