HEARTS AS WIDE AS THE WORLD: Since the time of St. Julie Billiart in the 18th century who spent her life proclaiming "How good is God," to Hilligonde and Elisabeth Kuhling in the 19th century who shared their home and their lives with the poor in Germany, to the 21st century in the United States, Sisters of Notre Dame have always responded to the needs of the people, especially the poor. God's call included leaving homeland, learning new languages, and adapting to new customs and traditions. The inspiration and guiding force in the heart of each sister was the gift (charism) of incarnating God's goodness and provident care WITH HEARTS AS WIDE AS THE WORLD. This book is the story of how this unfolded and continues to unfold in the lives of the Sisters of Notre Dame in the Toledo, Ohio Province from 1924 to 2014.
