The aim of this book is to help readers to write helpful book reviews, using an inductive approach. Through inductive engagement, book reviews are used from which to develop one’s own understanding and unique style of writing Amazon book reviews. No dogma is given. No philosophical or theoretical approach is put forward. This book favors actual practice, learning to review a book by analysing and evaluating examples of book reviews. “Guess what Jeff found in his cabin for me," Grete says, "another book by the Martian Chronicle guy." "Ray Bradburrow", Jeff says. Bradbury, I think. "Yeah, right, Something Wicked This Way Comes," Grete says, "It's good". She chirps the last bit as if that were all to say about a book. It's good or it's bad, I liked it or I didn't. No discussions of the writing, the themes, the nuances, the structure. Just good or bad - like a hot dog.” ~ Gillian Flynn, Gone Girl With the quote above, we come full circle in this book on writing Amazon reviews. We will see that sometimes twenty (20) words is all you need to convey the basics of "What, Why & Who." Again, the basics of book reviewing are nothing more than answering three questions: 1. What did you like or dislike? 2. Why did you rate the book the way you did? 3. Who do you recommend the book for? Yet we must also add to that understanding that basic respect for human dignity is an important part of writing a book review. Authors have a right to expect that they will not be subjected to undignified treatment by reviewers. The book itself is fair game. The dignity and honor of the author is always, at all times, off limits to reviewers.
