Ed Vasicek, "the Midrash Detective," traces doctrines associated with Paul to their Old Testament Jewish Root sources. Putting together the Old Testament "mother text" along with the New Testament midrash (elaboration) means the reader has more context and can better understand Paul's words. With a new variety of viewpoints about the intent of Paul's teaching, this book suggests that correlating Old and New Testament and Jewish Roots texts takes the "rocket science" out of interpreting Paul.Targeted toward serious lay persons, ministry professionals, and academics alike, this work should appeal to all interested in the Jewish Roots of Christianity and Messianic Judaism – and, of course, Paul's amazing doctrines! Edward J. Vasicek was born and reared in the Chicago area. He graduated from Moody Bible Institute with highest honors in 1979, receiving a B.A. in Pastoral/Greek. Ed did additional graduate work through San Diego Bible College and Seminary. Ed serves as the pastor of Highland Park Church in Kokomo, Indiana, where he has served since 1983. He and his wife, Marylu, are the proud parents of two adult children. Ed's interest in Jewish Roots studies became serious in the early 1990’s, and he continues to constantly uncover New Testament midrashim, earning his nickname as the “Midrash Detective.” He is a frequent guest speaker at the Messianic Congregation, "Ahavot Yeshua," in Indianapolis. In addition, Ed has addressed the Student Theological Society of the Moody Bible Institute regarding the use of midrash in the New Testament. Since 1999, he has authored a weekly “Opinion Page” column for "The Kokomo Tribune" and has published more than 700 editorial columns. Ed has published numerous articles on the "Sharper Iron" website, and his papers are posted throughout the web on theological and seminary websites. He invites you to read his many articles on his Jewish Roots website, www.midrashkey.com.
