""A Treatise On The Analytical Dynamics Of Particles And Rigid Bodies: With An Introduction To The Problem Of Three Bodies"" is a comprehensive guide to the principles and applications of analytical dynamics. Written by E.T. Whittaker and first published in 1917, this book covers the fundamental concepts of mechanics, including kinematics, force, momentum, and energy. The text explores the dynamics of both particles and rigid bodies, providing detailed explanations of the equations of motion and their solutions. The book also includes an introduction to the problem of three bodies, which is a classic problem in celestial mechanics. This problem involves the motion of three celestial bodies under the influence of their mutual gravitational attraction and is notoriously difficult to solve. Whittaker's treatment of this problem is clear and concise, making it accessible to readers with a basic understanding of calculus and mechanics. Overall, ""A Treatise On The Analytical Dynamics Of Particles And Rigid Bodies"" is an essential resource for anyone interested in the principles of mechanics and their applications in physics and engineering. It is a classic work that has stood the test of time and remains relevant to this day. This Is A New Release Of The Original 1917 Edition. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.

Dynamics which have been published by various investigators since the first edition appeared. I have moreover added some historical matter, and rewritten many sections. It is not necessary to specify these in detail, but perhaps I may mention that the new explanation of the transformation-theory of Dynamics in 125 sprang from a desire to do justice to the earliest great work of Hamilton sgenius: that the changes in 69 (the motion of a body about a fixed point under no forces) arose from my opinion that the Jacobian functions are preferable to theW eierstrassian in the numerical computations :and that I should have liked to give a fuller proof of Sundman stheorem (181), but thought it better to give only such an account as might impel the reader to consult Mr Sundman sown accessible and readable memoir. I wish again to record my obligations to the staff of the Cambridge University Press. E. T. WHITTAKER. Edinbdegh, A ugust, 1916.

This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.
