A young boy quickly finds out the gritty reality of what it means to grow up, which includes witnessing death, deferring dreams and evolving relationships. A charming picture is painted of a small Louisiana town and the characters that live there. Each character has his or her own unique personality, complete with their own quirks, gestures and speaking style. Their authentic interactions move the story forward with an honest and candid look at Billy's realistic experiences complete with the awkward and sometimes embarrassing moments of growing up. The conversations between Billy and his family, as well as the arguments and revelations he overhears, create an uncomfortable tension for the reader that is the result of talented and boundary-pushing writing.
Jim Lambert-Oswald was born and raised in the Bronx. He married his southern belle wife in 1978 and moved his family to Louisiana in 1990. Jim is very proud of his sons who have grown into fine Christian men, and adores his grandchildren who sometimes mistake him for Santa Claus. He has worked in the human services field with individuals with developmental disabilities for over 30 years. Jim took many English/writing classes over 40 years ago when he attended Queens College and he always wanted to write a novel, but marriage and family came first. To pass the time during his 150 mile daily commute, he dictated Heaven Is Just Above The Ceiling Fan to a small tape recorder and later typed and edited it.
