This book's first edition was written after my six year odyssey following my stroke. The doctors said if I did not die I would be completely incapacitated physically, mentally and emotionally. They said I had lost 45% of my brain and was declared 100% disabled for life. Somehow I found a way to healing and thriving as a human being. This extended second edition has added information on my eleven additional years of successful therapies which have helped me fulfill my life beyond my dreams. This edition includes my mentoring with other stroke survivors who have contacted me after they read the first edition.

Sandy Simon brings a unique perspective to coping with a stroke. He suffered a life threatening cerebral hemorrhage at 56. Mr. Simon enjoyed a successful career in real estate development in Atlanta. He received his B.S. from Georgia Tech. and his M.B.A. from the Wharton Graduate School. A native and current resident of Delray Beach, Florida, Mr. Simon now enjoys a full life of writing, painting and public speaking while continuing his various therapies. He is a popular speaker on South Florida history and the Middle East including the Camp David peace accords. His ten published books are very popular. "My experience as a therapist has been that recovery after a stroke is strongly influenced by some intangible quality that exists almost independently of the medical condition. It is this intangible quality, which grows out of a combination of attitude, faith, motivation, and interaction with friends and family that Mr. Simon so clearly understands and articulates" Dr. Leonard Elbaum, Florida International University "Sandy Simon's book, A Stroke of Genius, should be required reading for everyone. As a neurologist specializing in acute stroke treatment, I urge all doctors, neurologists, therapists and caregivers to READ THIS BOOK" Dr. Mark L. Brody, Former Medical Director, Bethesda Memorial Hospital, Stroke Program. "This is an account of a very personal journey that starts with a disaster and leads through paths of paralysis and pain to a good measure of healing and new insight into the nature of the human condition. The (Sandy Simon) story is about the power of courage, humor and support of other concerned human beings. There are valuable lessons here for each of us" Dr. Peter Doherty, Nobel Laureate, St Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee. "This book is a real winner. Honest in a light-reading way" Jack Canfield, author of Chicken Soup for the Soul.
