According to John’s Gospel, during Jesus’s three years of ministry, there were disciples who turned back, drifted away, and stopped following him. The same is true for many Christians today. Why?
Christianity isn’t about following a set of rules. To be a Christian means being in a relationship with Jesus Christ, being close to the God of the universe. Why would anyone turn away from something as good as that?
The simple answer is we haven’t truly experienced Christ. We are too often professing Christ without having actually possessed him, as Billy Graham says.
First-time author Ellison S. Kelly Jr. learned the difference in his own life when he decided not just to talk about God, but actually seek God. The result was twenty-five years’ worth of rich and amazing spiritual experiences that have drawn him closer and closer into a relationship with Jesus Christ.
A collection of stories describing the experiences Kelly and his friends have had over the years, Choose to Be a Disciple: Don’t Turn Back is not a theological treatise but rather a book written for anyone who needs encouragement to start following and to keep following Christ.
Your own Christian adventure awaits. Don’t turn back.

Ellison S. Kelly Jr. is a graduate of Clemson University, an Eagle Scout, a US Army officer who served in Vietnam, and a former director of a large department at the Medical University of South Carolina. He loves the outdoors-hunting and fishing. But first and foremost, Kelly is a disciple of Jesus Christ.
Wanting to share the most important part of his life, his relationship with God, Kelly wrote his debut book, Choose to Be a Disciple: Don’t Turn Back, a compilation of his own personal testimonies, as well as friends’ spiritual experiences, written to encourage others to grow in their own relationships with Jesus Christ.
