Synopsis

A year after they first sounded their Barbaric Yawp, the Young Adult Writers & Poets of Carlisle High School return to the rooftops with a mighty Echo featuring 53 original pieces of poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction that would make Walt Whitman proud. Culled from nearly 100 submissions, the pieces presented here reflect a variety of styles as twenty-six emerging authors give voice to their unique teenage observations on life. Exhaustion is personified and vagueness alluded to as they compose poetry, memoir, science fiction, humor, and stories about subjects ranging from gender identity to military housing. "Picking up a pen is like unzipping your veins. / Writing is simply the art of controlling the rate at which you bleed out." --Tatum Mann in "Commitment vs. Addiction"
