The Stranger opens his eyes to stark darkness and paralyzing silence. He struggles to take in his new surroundings as memories of his quest fade from his fractured mind, like sand falling swiftly through a splintered hourglass. His brain manages to seize but one horrid memory before all is lost—the one tortuous mantra that has only grown in pitch as it reverberated in his head throughout his quest: I have to find my son.The Stranger opens his eyes to blinding brightness and crippling heat. He struggles to stand upright and finds a musket ball burning in his chest. His ship is a flaming wreck upon the shore of this nearly deserted island. A man approaches as roaring waves crash behind him. The Stranger’s only hope for survival is to flee into the jungle, where he may find pause to take inventory of his circumstances and begin his quest to reclaim his son, taken from him only moments before.Dark-vs-light. Good-vs-Evil. Told from the perspectives of the title character and the many others with whom his fate will become intricately intertwined, The Stranger: Adrift is the first installment of a four-part fantasy series. The Stranger’s story is told through three distinct timelines that span a myriad of genres—from maritime adventure to apocalyptic horror. As the series begins, The Stranger’s life is in imminent danger from cover to cover, and he must struggle both to piece his story back together and to battle the insistent darkness growing within him as he begins his new life and his new quest.
