When most people think of a lecturer or a lecture tour, adventure is not necessarily the first word that comes to mind. To some, the biggest adventure a lecturer would face is missing a taxi or having the projector fail to connect with the computer. It is true – these things can happen. Yet when a lecturer goes on tour, there are many logistical challenges to get from one place to another on time and in one piece. Some lecture tours have tightly packed schedules. But others include free days, parts of days, or weekends. An inquisitive and energetic lecturer can become an explorer and even an adventurer. This book describes two series of lecture tours spaced five years apart. The travels involved several U.S. states, a Canadian province, and tours to South America, Europe, and the Middle East. In addition to visiting many cities to give lectures, the author was able to do a great deal of exploring on his own. The experiences from those tours are shared through stories and photos.
