Recently retired from Detroit Police Homicide Division, Dick Hagen moved to suburban Troy for the peace and quiet. After a young man is gunned down in cold blood near his condo entrance, he is instinctively drawn into the investigation by Sean Carson, an old colleague from Detroit now working in Troy. Coincidental events lead to a cover up at the highest level of power in the State of Michigan and connect to the popular Governor, Charles Vandenberg - Charlie V to his devoted supporters. A project proposed for a valuable property on Big Beaver Road in Troy is being planned as a multi million dollar development. This former site of a landfill is tainted by hazardous waste and delays or cancellation will cost millions to Charlie's friends. The cover up will cost other lives while Dick and Sean connect the dots and close in on the suspects. The trail ultimately takes them to Chicago for a final confrontation. Peace and quiet will have to wait for awhile.
