But now, a mysterious gang of thieves have come to Shopton and Tom hopes to leave Andy in the dust as he tries to unravel the mystery behind the thieves, and a strange hobo who appears just when it is the most inconvenient for our hero. Tom is attacked and waylaid by the gang when they discover that he is on their trail. -------------------------------------------- This book has been substantially rewritten to remove outright racism and to enhance the mechanical and technical interests. Many books of this era used sentence structures, certain words and even punctuation in ways that can be confusing to younger readers today. So, every effort has been made to alleviate this issue while retaining the flavor of a story first told more than a century before.

Thomas Hudson either writes as multiple authors (Victor Appleton, Victor Appleton II, Clarence Young IV, T. Edward Fox, etc.) or they all write as him. In any case, he is prolific in authoring Tom Swift adventures and short stories. He lives and writes, but no longer works, somewhere in the great Pacific Northwest, nestled among a variety of trees. He has discovered a love of writing as well as a talent for growing tomatoes. Several years a go the sife of a friend challenged him to write a unique story that she could turn into a screen play. It had to be nothing like anything else out there. Over a two-day period he wrote THE LIFE OF BI (available on Amazon.com, Lulu.com and as a Kindle book) about a teenage girl with a unique problem with her body and her mind. It is odd; it is strange; it is unique. It is definitely for adults although there is very little traditional adult content in it. She has never spoken to Mr. Hudson again!
