Synopsis
The woman screamed in despair, her fourth delivery, all lost, every child lost, like a plague or curse. Starship Arcturus is dying. Something is killing it, three thousand years into its journey, running from old Earth’s catastrophic past. “Find out why,” they order Scarlett. “You’ll know how!” In this sci-fi/mystery thriller, Scarlett is a One Rabbit who wakes seeds. Young, crazed, and dangerous, Scarlett keeps the seeds from old Earth alive within Seeds and Spores, a guild of drug-ramped maniacs. She hardly knows the starship or its five thousand sojourners, a human remnant divided into feuding guilds united only by the forced sex schedules of its priesthood and its long journey to the stars. The starship is cloaked with mystery. The Priests suppress history. Guild feuds intensify. The ship braces for a revolt over a comet capture. None admits to knowing what kills them. The future of humanity depends on Scarlett to unravel a deadly web of deceit. And Scarlett doesn’t know how.
