Synopsis

Autism Intervention in the iEra is based on the Socially Speaking™ Program created by pediatric speech-language pathologist, educational technology consultant, and Autism specialist Penina Rybak MA/CCC-SLP, TSHH. Following the footsteps of her Socially Speaking™ iPad® App, a one of a kind social communication assessment protocol, this book is a one of a kind guidebook for navigating Autism intervention in the 21st century classroom. It is a practical, easy to implement, play based, developmental, child-centric, and creative curriculum for young children with Autism in the Digital Age. It is designed to help parents and professionals work together and collaborate more functionally, to integrate toys and tech (iPad® apps) in treatment and:
* Determine areas of strength and weakness and starting points for remediation
* Bridge gaps between behavioral readiness to learn and actual performance re: social communication
* Foster orientation to person/place/time for increased retention and carryover of learned skills
* Foster self-awareness, self-expression, and self-monitoring of socio-emotional behavior for better outcomes
* Counteract the splintered skill acquisition and "situation specific" learning so often seen in children with Autism and/or special needs
This book's 12 chapters contain a blueprint for best practices in today's educational arena. Every chapter provides much needed insights, tips, references, strategies, resources, and lists of recommended toys and iPad® apps to address specific goals. A must have for every parent and professional in the Autism community trying to "get on the same page" and make a difference for children in need!
