Synopsis

This book is a stepbystep guide presented in a bitesized format. It is designed to appeal to the palates of mature adults who have had or who are now experiencing problems in their social, business, or intimate relationships. The book is divided into five sections. Myths That Maim is a postcardlike series of sayings that cautions us about the hidden pitfalls of a mindless, bumpersticker approach to life. Relationship Survival Kit is a humorously presented set of dos and don'ts for couples in committed relationships. Mutual Support outlines the skills needed to nurture longterm meaningful relationships. We Need to Talk! teaches specific essential communications skills. And finally, Type Game helps the reader to identify their own Jungian/MyersBriggsbased Personality Type.

Biographie de l'auteur

I have been a licensed marriage and family therapist since 1986. I am an experienced problemsolver who specializes in working with clients who are temporarily overwhelmed by some sort of life crisis, especially relationship problems. I have worked with a wide variety of clients over the years in many different settings from private practice to state prison to atrisk high school students. I began my studies of counseling and psychology in the early 1980s while working through my own personal crises of divorce, career change, custodial and noncustodial parenting, and remarriage. I strive to achieve two goals with my clients: the first is to help them to relieve their current pain and sufferings; the second is to teach them the life skills that they will need to resolve future problems on their own. I have been a serious student of Jungian/MyersBriggs Personality Type theory since the early 1980s. I have found it to be an indispensable tool in dealing with both personal and interpersonal development and growth.
