A native of Eatonton, Georgia, Alisa has shared her message of perseverance and success in churches, classrooms and seminars since 1999 and plans to continue teaching others how to “Do Good, Feel Better, and Be Great” by “Imitating the Tree”. She attended Georgia College where she earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry in 1994. Dr. Nelson received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Meharry Medical College in 1998, where she graduated with honors. She then went on to complete a General Practice Residency in 1999. Because of her love of dentistry and commitment to training others, Dr. Nelson was invited to serve as an Associate Professor in the department of Periodontics and Oral Diagnosis at Meharry Medical College. She maintained her position for two years, during that time she was promoted to Clinical Course Coordinator. Missing her ties to her Georgia "roots", Dr. Nelson decided to move home where she jumpstarted her career with an Associateship in Corporate Dentistry. Desiring a more personal atmosphere, Dr. Nelson became the first African American to own Commercial property in Grayson, GA by opening her own Private Practice, Comfort Dental Studio, in 2002. Since that time Dr. Nelson has enjoyed interacting with her patients from all over the metro- Atlanta area. Over the course of her career, Alisa has received many honors and awards and is a member of many dental organizations, including the ADA and the AGD. However, her most recent honor came in 2012 when she accepted the call into Ministry. Dr. Nelson-Wade is currently a Minister in Training at Hopewell Northeast Baptist Church. She is under the leadership of Senior Pastor Gerald Blanding, Sr and Co-Pastor Veda Blanding. Alisa holds a Bachelors of Science degree in biology and a Doctorate of Dental Surgery
