In Two Cups of Chai, you will hear the story of a Midwestern boy stumbling onto the path of yoga, which eventually leads him to having an unexpected arranged marriage in India. At fifteen, Jason was an aspiring rock star and party animal. In an attempt to steer him away from a troubled life his concerned holistic doctor began teaching him yoga and introduced him to the man who would become his guru. In the course of time Jason’s passion for yoga, as well as a few failed life plans and relationships, led him to pursue becoming a pandit in the Vedic tradition. While studying at his guru’s ashram, he and other fellow students went on a pilgrimage to India during the Maha Kumbha Mela - a spiritual festival held once every 144 years with an estimated 70 million participants. Jason will take you along on his travels to holy places such as Chitrakut, Benaras, and Allahabad. You will be there as he is gored by a brahman cow, attacked by a monkey, and robbed by a priest. There are many lessons about love, lust, seeking enlightenment, and the modern day guru/disciple relationship. One day, Jason’s guru surprised him by asking if he was ready for marriage. His reaction and the roller coaster of events that follow await you in this mystic love story.
