This book is a personal inquiry relating to the formation of self. Exploration of beliefs, the ego, emotions; the impact placed by events on the essence of a person based on the cumulative factors that make up each being. "The behavior of each of us is a composite, encompassing the long-term results of external actions playing onto our internal response mechanisms." This was the hypothesis upon which the inquiry began, with the goal of understanding if, how, and why this happens, and to determine whether there was a way to corral the responses into a learning experience rather than simply a reactive process. How does a person became what they are? Where do beliefs belong and what influence do they exert?

Joe Goldstein was born in 1938 in New York City, and currently resides in Los Angeles, California with his wife, Donna. He worked in aerospace for 42 years, with specialties in analysis, system engineering, and project management. Amongst his passions are both sensitivity to the sanctity of personal property, and an inquisitiveness into the make-up of man, his actions, and his reactions to the world around him. Pivotal events relating to development involved practice of the methods of consciousness-raising, including Transcendental Meditation, Zen and Tibetan Buddhism, Kabbalah, and the lectures of Krishnamurti. Pivotal academic curricula included a BSME from NYU, a Masters in Aerospace Engineering from USC, a Masters in Business Engineering from UCLA, and a degree in System Engineering From Lockheed Technical Institute. His engineering background supported an inquisitive mind and a questioning approach to conditions, and his three published books look at aspects of man's interactions as they have affected the world, how the US economy is affected by our moral compass, and what is it that makes man what he is?
