Synopsis

Whatever I had expected it wasn’t this. “Now you see,” he said, looking at me anxiously. “Yes I see but they’re hardly career damaging are they, I mean everyone’s done it; at some time or other.” He came round the desk and pointed to the other man in the picture and his fellow participant in the activity. I looked more closely and gasped. “Oh! I see. That’s different.” The Mayor is being blackmailed over photographs from his youth and he wants Phyllis Care, reporter for the Dibbington News, to investigate with no police involvement. That’s before the other man in the photos Lord Hasden turns up dead and the police, in the person of Care’s on/off boyfriend D.I. Reece Scott, are called in anyway. Pulled off the story by her boss Mr De’Ath Care decides to get to the bottom of the blackmail plot and this time her Mum is helping out. This is the second in a series of novellas featuring Phyllis Care and Reece Scott. Please note this is not a full length novel.
