The memorial of these honored men has already been written and are posted on our website; they can be viewed on our web page, 281st.com This book is only an extension of those stories. Still, I needed lots of help to compile this into a memorial type book, and the following folks came to my aid: Jack Mayhew, was so helpful; he has an enormous amount of information in his head and at his fingertips. He has checked, proofread, and rechecked each story herein. He, over the years and still to this day, has been instrumental in trying to find our ten Missing in Action men. As you read about these honored men, you will notice in this book all the work he has accomplished over the past twenty- five or more years. There is no way I could have put this book together without his help. I once told him that I wished I knew everything he knew and that I would also like to know everything he had forgotten. He said the “latter would do me much better.” – Thanks for taking the time to help honor these men. ~William McCollum
