Synopsis

The famous Carl Sagan once said, "I wonder if we'll ever find a specimen of life based not on organic molecules, but on something else --something more exotic." All life as we know it is based on the element carbon...but what if a life-form on some exotic exoplanet was based on silicon? What is the Shadow Biosphere and Xenobiology? Alan Dean Foster wrote a Science Fiction novel where life-forms were based on silicon with the result of a fascinating tale and descriptions of a host of silicon based creatures and how they coped with survival. I have referred to a great many Sci Fi descriptions of alien anatomy and established a template for designing silica life-forms to exist on any of several different extreme exoplanets. Consider a creature with a brain of silica chips, an integrated circuit nervous system and a tegument of asbestos or armored silicone and sharp claws of silicon carbide that breathes methane and has ammonia for blood. I've included a collection of descriptions of energy sources such a creature might use ranging from nuclear fusion to to photoelectric solar cells of silicon. So I've collected a heap of annotated information on the chemistry of silicon as pertains to an alien biology. There are comparisons with carbon-based Earth extremophiles and peeks at a form of life impossible to comprehend...Morphic Resonance by Alfred Rurart Sheldrake...are silica family crystals "self-aware?" And are the seeds of life transported about the Universe via Panspermia to rain down on the Earth and other alien exoplanets, perhaps adhering to comets? There are looks at the existing family of silica minerals that "might" be self-aware and how some might, if carried as charms, benefit the health of the host. Interested in the Bigfoot phenomenon and have written a few books on such. Amateur astronomer, geologist, entomologist, and anthropologist.
