Delve into the troubled mind of Richard Temple as he relays his story of murder, betrayal and unrequited love. Experience through his words and his thoughts the terrible occurrences within the Earl household as he witnesses Detective Inspector William Mahon and his unwitting side-kick Police Constable Joe Hobbs attempt to determine the culprit behind Graham Earl's death. This book is an introduction to the characters of Mahon and Hobbs and, though their names are in the series title, they can only be classed as secondary characters within this novella, working as a foil for Richard Temple.

About the Author Luke Alexander van Dijk was born in the North Eastern English town of Darlington at 06:00 on the 5th of November 1990. Even in the earliest stages of his education it was clear that English, especially creative writing, was his best and most loved subject. At GCSE level English Literature, English Language and Drama were the only three subjects in which he received an A grade, demonstrating his undying passion for both the spoken and the written word. At college Luke attempted to branch out, explore other avenues that were open to him and he took on the subjects of Law and History as well as the two more familiar subjects of Drama & Theatre Studies and Performance Studies, choosing to forego English for the simple fact that he preferred the creative side over the analytical, wishing that there had been a course simply for creative writing. As he had expected would be the case, the subject that he did best in was Drama & Theatre Studies, receiving an A grade for his practical performance. This led him to believe that his true calling was the theatre and so he went on to University where he once again studied the subject. After a while Luke became disillusioned by the surrealist tendencies that the tutors displayed and dropped Theatre after one year, barely passing the required modules. So in his second year he returned to the more comfortable English Literature course. After his three years at University he finally graduated with honours, realising once more that his biggest successes had been in creative writing. At University Luke had taken his time to develop his writing and explore different genres and found that he enjoyed two in particular: crime and fantasy. 'Presentably Dead' was first written as a play and, after multiple failed attempts to have it performed on stage, Luke threw it to one side, thinking that it wasn't good enough. A few months later he looked at it again and believed once more that it had potential. After a few tweaks to the dialogue and the character names he realised that his play could well be better presented as a novella and so 'Presentably Dead' was born.
