Synopsis

In the Montessori Primary Casa, or classroom for two-and-a-half through six year old children, students around four years of age formally begin to study mathematics. Under the guidance of a trained Montessori teacher, Primary students learn increasingly advanced mathematical concepts in a fun, age-appropriate manner through sequential lessons known as “presentations.” Montessori Primary Addition outlines prerequisite skills for mathematics readiness as well as each official presentation in the Casa related to the operation of addition. The essential combinations of addition, 1 + 1 = 2 through 9 + 9 = 18, are clearly illustrated and labeled to help reinforce students’ in-class studies. The comprehensive “For Parents” section of the book covers all aspects of Primary addition from carrying numbers to “Word Problems” to eventually solving addition equations into the millions.

Written and computer illustrated by AMI Diploma holder Mary Da Prato with hand drawings by Genevieve DeVaney Da Prato, BFA, MAT, Montessori Primary Addition is an excellent parent and teacher resource for fostering addition comprehension in eager young learners.
