LAN SLUDER is the author of more than 20 books on travel and retirement in the United States and Central America including Fodor’s Belize, Amazing Asheville, Easy Belize, Frommer’s Best Beach Vacations, Fodor's The Carolinas and Georgia (co-author) and others. He also has published books on classic cars and the game of bridge, authoring Buy a Classic Rolls-Royce or Bentley and Play Bridge Today. Sluder has contributed to many newspapers, magazines and online media around the world including the TravelChannel.com, Chicago Tribune, The New York Times, Where to Retire, Charlotte Observer, Bangkok Post, New Orleans Business, Belize First, Caribbean Travel & Life and Globe & Mail. A former newspaper editor in New Orleans, magazine editor/publisher and marketing executive, Lan lives on a mountain farm near Asheville with his wife, Sheila M. Lambert, an attorney. They have two children, Brooks Lambert-Sluder, a program manager at Harvard, and Rose Lambert-Sluder, a writer who lives in Portland, Ore.
