Neidinger has prepared a 6-lecture adult education series on video, “The Greek Myths.'” The series begins with a discussion of various ancient and modern theories about what a myth is, then outlines the origin of the Olympian gods. Subsequent lectures explore the deities Athena, Poseidon, Zeus and Dionysos, followed by the stories of the First and Second Heroic Ages. This new volume is a companion to the video series, and comprises lecture notes in outline format. Notes are illustrated with thumbnail color photos, diagrams, maps and charts referenced in the video programs. DR. WILLIAM J. NEIDINGER is an historian and archaeologist associated with the Texas Foundation for Archaeological & Historical Research (TFAHR). He holds degrees from Fordham University, University of Madrid, and Rice University. Over the past thirty-five years he has directed and co-directed more than a dozen excavations in the Middle East, the Balkans, and southern Europe. Dr. Neidinger has lectured on mythology, classical culture, archaeology, medieval history, religion, art history, and the Middle East at diverse universities, colleges, adult educational institutions, churches and synagogues in Texas since 1977.
