Synopsis

In the shadow of a mania-fuelled nightmare, one man stands between innocence and the abyss.

The year is 1483, and the once majestic city of Cordoba, Andalusia, becomes the backdrop for a tale of suspense and dark transformation. Thomas Berrington, a skilled surgeon, is drawn away from the familiar embrace of Moorish al-Andalus on a mission he wishes he could refuse. Summoned to Qurtuba at the behest of his master, Thomas's sole intention is to attend to a Spanish prince and swiftly return. However, destiny weaves a more complex journey for him and his steadfast companion, the enigmatic eunuch Jorge.

Amidst the ancient streets, a sinister presence preys on the young women of Cordoba, crafting from their despair grotesque monuments to a deranged vision. Entrusted by Queen Isabel herself, Thomas finds himself thrust into a chilling hunt for the malevolent force known as the Bonebreaker. As he delves deeper into a maze of religious fervour and deception, the lines blur between ally and adversary.

Parallel to Thomas's quest, Jorge embarks on a deeply personal voyage to confront a past he left behind two decades ago, seeking the fragments of a family once forsaken.

As the Bonebreaker claims another victim, urgency mounts. However, Thomas and Jorge face their most perilous endeavour, navigating the perilous waters of trust and betrayal. They must unravel the mystery and halt the carnage before it claims someone irreplaceably dear to them.

"Breaker of Bones" heralds a riveting chapter in the Thomas Berrington saga, immersing readers in the twilight of Moorish Spain—a time of shadowed intrigue and lost splendour. This enthralling narrative promises to captivate and haunt the imagination with its vivid portrayal of a world teetering on the brink of darkness.
