Shirley Roney began her journalism career covering campus riots during the Vietnam War. After serving as news anchor for a station owned by Ed Sullivan, she became one of the first female reporters allowed inside Gasoline Alley to cover the Indy 500. She left Indy to become Associate Sports Information Director at Illinois State University. Her multi-faceted career has included at stint as Coordinator of the Illinois Coalition for the Homeless. Roney began singing and playing piano at eight, her first audience being the homeless at a rescue mission founded by her one-eighth Cherokee grandfather, Ronald Allen, whose own grandfather came to Illinois as a 13-year-old on the Trail of Tears. Roney published her first paperback novel, "The Helmet" in 2003. The author is the mother of one son, the grandmother of three, and the great-grandmother of one. She received her degree in communications from Southern Illinois University. Scott Allen Roney is an accomplished lawyer who spent 22 years as counsel and 12 years as an executive officer for global agri-business giant, Archer Daniels Midland. Scott was responsible for promoting integrity and ethics in the company's worldwide operations spanning from the Americas, to Europe, Africa and Asia. Ten generations of Scott's family have lived in Illinois including Nancy Allen. Another of Scott's ancestors, Jonathan Wells, came to Illinois in 1823 right after Illinois became a state in 1818. The Wells and Allen families were among the pioneer farmers of Illinois which will celebrate its Bicentennial in 2018. As editor of his high school newspaper, Scott was repeatedly recognized for his writing by the Southern Illinois School Press Association. Graduating with honors from the University of Michigan Law School, Scott joined an entertainment law firm in Nashville, Tennessee. Two years later he joined the legal staff of Archer Daniels Midland, then headed by global leader, Washington insider and captain of industry Dwayne O. Andreas. Scott subsequently became vice president of the company. Today Scott, his wife, three children and grandchildren live in Arizona. Scott counsels organizations around the globe on implementing effective programs to conduct business with integrity. He escapes into his own thoughts on his Harley-Davidson Road King and during the summer of 2013, Scott and his son made a 5800-mile motorcycle tour of the U.S.
