As a youth, dyslexia stymied his formal education but did nothing to blunt is extraordinary native intelligence, his will to excel and his ultimate success. Being forced to leave home as a mere lad be-cause there were too many other mouths to feed would have broken lesser men. But the severely malnourished seventeen-year-old who showed up at an Army recruiting office in Columbus, Georgia went on to a successful military career that would lead to his induction into the Ranger Hall of Fame. Today, Thomas draws on his rich life experiences and deep faith to serve as a leader of his community and church. He lives with his wife Marji in his native Georgia.
