The death of a child is unthinkable. Even so, every day, hundreds of children die around the world. Child death is a tragedy. We, as a society, are not prepared to offer the family of the deceased child the support they need. The lack of knowledge about the effects these tragedies produce destabilize the members of the family and affect the entire community. Certainly the lack of empirical research makes it difficult to properly help the family. The author of "When a the Unthinkable Happens: the Death of a Child" is a bereaved mother herself. Since 1999. Ms. Roel de Hoffmann has dedicated many. many hours to reaching out to other bereaved parents so they won't be alone through their grief journey. These years of walking along others through their grief and her own grief journey are reflected in this book. "When the Unthinkable Happens: the Death of a Child" is the English version of the book in Spanish by the title "Cuando lo inimaginable sucede: la muerte de un hijo".
