As the manipulation continues, the internal feeling of pain becomes intense and affects the individual psychologically, mentally, socially, and physiologically. The individual who suffers then begins to build an emotional structural mechanism of defense to cope with the constant abuse of the emotions, self-esteem, self-worth, and self-confidence.
