Synopsis

This book contains three sermons, "The Preeminence of Christ," "The New Birth," and "The Rich Man and Lazarus." The outlines of these sermons may be seen in the "Table of Contents," by clicking on the image of the book. These were taken from notes of sermons that were very effective when preached. The author, Rev. Dr. Gary Lee Roper, has fifty years of experience in the ministry. He was one of the pioneers of the establishment of Sovereign Grace Bible Conferences in the Mid-Southern United States. He has been pastor of Baptist Churches in Michigan, Tennessee, and Alabama. He served for a brief time as the interim pastor of a Presbyterian Church in the Cayman Islands. His newspaper columns have appeared in the Memphis Commercial Appeal, the Birmingham News, The Cayman Compass, and occasionally in the Wall Street Journal. His radio ministry has spanned the southeastern United States and the West Indies. He has lectured at Memphis State University, Christian Brothers University, The Baptist Bible College, Springfield, Mo., and the Texas College of Theology. For eight years he taught Systematic Theology and was administrator of a private (K-12) Christian School. He has worked with missionaries in 33 countries, and was honored to have preached in Spurgeon's Metropolitan Tabernacle in London, England. In addition he has preached at Tent Hall in Glasgow, Scotland, made famous by Jock Troup and Peter Conolly during the Fisherman's Revival of the 1920s. Twice he spoke at a Christian Camp for Japanese pastors and Christian families located at the foot of Mt. Fuji. He is now semi-retired in Florida and spends his time writing and accepting occasional speaking engagements.
