The goal was to gather in one place all the advice, guidance, and collective experience of the two hundred plus combined years of academic service of the members of these commissions. The book's unofficial subtitle, Everything We Wish We Knew Before Starting Our First Catholic History Project, is a most apt one as we tried to embody in one short volume all the information, thoughts, insights, suggestions, and knowledge that would have helped us our first time performing research in this field. Our goal is to allow you to benefit from that experience, learning from our mistakes, so that you don't waste time or grow frustrated in your efforts in the field of American Catholic history.

À propos de l'auteur

Carl Ganz, Jr. has a bachelor’s degree in history from Seton Hall University and is employed as a software developer. In 2009, Bishop Paul Bootkoski appointed Carl to the historical commission of the Diocese of Metuchen. In 2010, Carl was appointed to the New Jersey Catholic Historical Commission. In addition to five books on software development, he is also the author of The History of Immaculate Conception Parish, Somerville, New Jersey, 1883 – 2008 and The Grand Old Man of the Port: Dean Martin Gessner, the American Catholic Church, and Parish Life in the Nineteenth Century. Carl and his wife Wendy live in Raritan, New Jersey, with their children Carl III, Rose, Emily, and Anna, and their dog Patches. Contact Carl at seton.software@verizon.net.
