Synopsis

With the help of his best friend, a teenager struggling with Tourette’s Syndrome must track down a dumpster-smelling intruder who has stolen the jacket that keep his mom’s memory intact—all the way into the world of the dead!

Thirteen-year-old Jesse Jayden is hearing voices, but it’s not a big deal. He’s used to his brain doing odd things, like the outbursts caused by his Tourette’s Syndrome. And the trouble with OCD. And his struggle with ADHD. There’s a good chance this is why his mom keeps him locked in the house. He’s fine with this too, because he’s got frequent contact with his one and only friend, Katie, and a room filled with books to occupy his time. Still, are the iron bars on his window really necessary?

The night before Halloween, Jesse finally learns the truth. A super-stinky man breaks into his house, and Jesse realizes that those bars aren’t there to keep him in . . . They’re keeping something else out!

Worse yet, the man disappears into the fog with a special jacket that keeps Jesse’s mom safe from memory loss and seizures. On Halloween and with Katie by his side, Jesse finally leaves his home to follow the clues, venturing into the world of the dead, where the most feared being in history has emerged from hiding for the first time in two thousand years. But Jesse is determined to find the jacket. He can’t—won’t!—turn back, or else his mom is going to forget him…

Forever!

Fans of the Goosebumps and Harry Potter series will be thrilled and chilled to follow Jesse Jayden and his best friend, Katie, into a magical and spooky new world where the dead come back to life as monsters of old—witches, goblins, werewolves, and more! Dead People Stole My Jacket is the fast-paced first book in the HMD series.

Présentation de l'éditeur

Jesse and Katie, Welcome to my brother’s beverage lounge! I’m sorry we can’t meet in person. At the moment, a certain circumstance won’t allow it, which is a good thing because I might end up telling you something I would regret; some of the content of our conversation wouldn’t be suitable for your ages. Maybe someday, but for the time being, I just wanted to say hello. Please stop by from time to time; it will make my brother’s restaurant famous in the future (the restaurant will be documented as a historical artifact and become one of the most important sites in human history). Here is a word puzzle for the both of you. The answer will tell you who you are.
