Natalie Totire always had an interest in learning about animals and grew up reading animal books and watching Nature programs on public TV. She read books on dinosaurs and enjoyed the latest discoveries from Discover and Scientific American. She attended a secular school and obtained her Associate's degree from Naugatuck Valley C. T. College in Early Childhood Education. After becoming a Christian, her desire was in teaching more biblical aspects. She later obtained a Bachelor's degree in Educational Ministries from Moody Bible Institute, where she researched on the book of Genesis, but became increasingly interested in writing and illustrating for children. Natalie later took a correspondence course from the Institute of Children’s Literature followed by working as a Newspaper Journalist while attending Triton College. She is now a Phi Theta Kappa member, and her paintings won numerous awards at the DuPage Art League. Natalie works directly with children at day cares, before and after school care, Sunday School, and mission trips. For many years, Natalie wrote fiction books, but later she shifted her interest into writing nonfiction. She had a continued interest in animals and saw a great need for books which gave God the glory as Creator, which eventually led to the making of this book. It was the cry of the Red-tailed Hawk that led her to choosing birds of prey. From then, Natalie began a long journey of research and sketching which led to the making of this book. She adopted the acrylic painting style and learned from the tutorials of Robert Bates and Terry Isaac.
