BRIGHT MORNING STAR Migrating west is hard for everyone, especially women. Most adjust quickly to the hardship, but not all. Claire Wimberley is a blonde, blue-eyed beauty with little in her head, but dreams and a love for the latest fashion. Although she has worked in the mills in Boston, she has been the spoiled only child of a middle class family. Her best friends are poor Irish girls whose families are always struggling. When first one, then the other, face terrible tragedies, Claire is the first to offer a helping hand and her loving support. Soon she is traveling the Oregon Trail with Lynne’s little sister and brothers and her other best friend, Bonnie. Along the trail, Claire must face the fact that she is in love with a married man despite his bitter wife. She is able to be strong until Bonnie is captured by Indians and she has to face new crisis alone. Can a girl who has never worn anything second-hand in her life settle for a second-hand husband?

J.R. Biery has written for years and is finally publishing some of her more recent work. She wrote and sold fiction and nonfiction to magazines while a stay-at home mom. Loved entering writing contests and won several awards. After she began her career as a teacher, she found it was more satisfying just to continue writing but not worry about marketing. She did have one novel, Potter's Field, accepted and published by Advance Books, a small publisher no longer in business. "I prefer stories about ordinary people who are slapped by adversity and discover who they really are as they overcome the challenge. An avid reader, I began writing my own books in my twenties. I found writing, escaping into fantasy, to be a great source of comfort and relief from the stress of real life. No matter how big the problem, in fiction you can always write a satisfying solution." Since retiring, she has written eleven new books and three shorter works and plans to continue publishing them on Kindle and Create Space.
