Synopsis

From Hugo and Nebula Award Winner Theodore Sturgeon.

Jeremy Jedd stood in the igneous dust of the spaceport margin, staring into the sky and shading his eyes with his arm. Occasionally he checked the time by his ristkron, shaking it to make sure it was wound, craning back toward the hunched Customs House and the great clock. The sign there announced placidly that the Pinnacle had reported, was overdue, and would discharge passengers at Gate Three.

A propos du livre

À propos de l'auteur

Theodore Sturgeon (1918-1985) was an American science fiction and fantasy writer whose work brought unusual emotional depth and psychological insight to mid-twentieth-century speculative fiction. Emerging from the pulp magazine era, Sturgeon quickly distinguished himself through stories that emphasized character, vulnerability, and moral complexity rather than mere technological spectacle. He is best known for works such as More Than Human, which explores themes of collective identity and human potential, and for numerous short stories that remain widely anthologized. Sturgeon's prose is marked by empathy and a willingness to confront social and emotional taboos, helping to expand the thematic range of science fiction.A significant influence on later generations of writers, Sturgeon helped steer the genre toward greater literary ambition. His enduring reputation rests not only on imaginative concepts but on his conviction that speculative fiction could illuminate the most intimate dimensions of human experience.
