Synopsis

Jack and Raffles are the best of friends. They do everything today. One day, Raffles doesn’t want to play. He lies down instead. Jack’s parents take Raffles to the vet. Raffles is very sick and has to be put to sleep. That night, Jack’s Dad tells him about the Rainbow Bridge: a place where dogs are forever young and happy and free of pain. A place where perhaps one day, Jack and Raffles will be together once more.The bond between child and their dog is very strong. Often, children’s first real experience of loss is with a pet. Over the Rainbow Bridge helps children deal with their grief and cope when a beloved pet passes away.

The author – Phillip W. Simpson Phillip W. Simpson is the author of many novels, chapter books and other stories for children and Young Adults. His publishers include Month9books, Macmillan, Penguin, Pearson, Cengage, Raintree and Oxford University Press. He is the author of the Rapture Trilogy, a Young Adult series set in a post-apocalyptic world. Rapture (Rapture Trilogy #1), was shortlisted for the Sir Julius Vogel Awards for best Youth novel in 2012. Since then, two of his Young Adult novels, Minotaur and Argos, have been acquired by U.S publisher, Month9books. He received his undergraduate degree in Ancient History and Archaeology, his Masters (Hons) degree in Archaeology and his Masters (Hons) degree in Creative Writing all from the University of Auckland. In his previous life, he joined the army as an officer cadet, owned a comic shop and worked in recruitment in both the UK and Australia. When not writing, he works as a school teacher and lives and writes in Auckland, New Zealand with his wife Rose, their son, Jack, and their two border terriers, Whiskey and Raffles. He loves fishing, reading, movies, football and single malt Whiskeys. www.phillipwsimpson.com The artist – Mat Dawson Mathew graduated Sunderland University in 2014; with a first class honours in Illustration & Design (BA). He has worked on various projects since; including album artwork, commissioned paintings, drawings and wall murals. Mathew's final major project at University was inspired by Phillip.W.Simpson's Rapture. His artwork was exhibited at 'New Designers' in London, and continues to be exhibited in the Sunderland University Design Centre. He has since gone on to collaborate with Phillip W. Simpson on a number of independent projects; including Over The Rainbow Bridge, and 'The Rapture Graphic Novel'.
