Synopsis
Callan the Chameleon lived in a tall lilly pilly tree with pink tipped leaves. The leaves of the lilly pilly tree grow very thick. Callan felt safe in the rustling tree that was home. The theme of the book is acceptance of our differences. The main character, Callan, has tendencies that parallel with Asperger's Syndrome. The story deals with this in a subtle way and celebrates our unique personality traits and individual talents. The story revolves around Callan and his bush animal friends, Emily the Echidna, Kyle the Koala, Katie the Kookaburra, Wesley the Wombat, Freya the Frilled Necked Lizard and other uniquely Australian animals. Callan the Chameleon features a reference section on Asperger’s Syndrome by Professor Tony Attwood, who also contributed to Linda’s other books on Asperger's—I’m not broken, I’m just different and Wings to fly.

Biographie de l'auteur
Linda was born and raised in Cooranbong, a small country town on the east coast of Australia, near Lake Macquarie. Her friends tell her she should be a stand-up comedienne, which is a good way to terrify Linda; she would rather write and paint. Linda writes regularly for the local Gazette, and gives author talks to support groups for the Autism spectrum. She is a passionate advocate for Asperger’s and disability rights. A Curious & Inelegant Childhood is Linda’s first published book. She uploaded many of her warm and humorous stories to ‘The Making of Modern Australia’ website, run by the ABC, where they regularly ended up in the Highest Rated section. Her story A Dangerous Time was chosen by the producers as one of a few Featured Stories. Her stories also landed on top of the pile with readers and she caught the eye of a publisher. I’m not broken, I’m just different is Linda’s second book. She has written and illustrated a companion book for children, which also deals with Asperger’s, Callan the Chameleon. Linda is currently working on her next novella; based on her nursing training and experience. She has written and illustrated several other children’s books, including The Frog that Hiccupped, and Under the Bracken Fern, a ‘children’s story for adults’ dealing with child abuse. A former register nurse in aged care and community health, Linda has experience as a carer.
