"Open Randomly: Fortune Cookies for the Soul" is a collection of sixty of the most popular blog posts from Ally Hamilton’s personal growth, happiness and wellness blog on YogisAnonymous.com. Part spiritual self-help, part advice column, the posts are grouped in categories, such as “The Relationship You’re Having with Yourself”, “Old Wounds/Current Problems”, and “Anger, Betrayal, and Taking Things Personally.” The posts are 2-3 pages long (perfect for before-bed reading, while you’re waiting at the doctor’s office, or when you need to take a quick break to center yourself), and the book is designed so that you can open to any page, and find your “topic of the day". Of course, you can also read it from cover-to-cover, but if you open it randomly, it’s kind of like a fortune cookie for your soul. The book tackles big issues, but the posts are down-to-earth with a healthy does of humor. This is spirituality for those of us who are never moving to a cave, but are looking for tools to feel happy and at ease in this fast-paced world. In order to be comfortable in our own skin, we have to be at peace with ourselves, but many people are fighting an internal battle. The quality of their inner voice is harsh and unforgiving. They feel stuck personally or professionally. Relationships are difficult, and rife with conflict, confusion and dissatisfaction. They aren’t sure what lights them up and brings them joy, or they are, but don’t know how to bring more of that into their daily lives. They’ve tried things the way we’ve all been taught—work hard, accrue money and stuff, diet so you look right, and eventually it will all pay off, only to find out that it doesn’t. This book is for anyone who could use support making shifts toward living with enthusiasm, gratitude and joy. It's for those who can relate to the ups and downs of life, loss, relationships, the complex nature of being human, and the incredulity that we are all here, having this amazing experience being human, together.

Ally Hamilton grew up in New York City and graduated from Columbia University with a B.A., having done an English major and Psychology minor. During her senior year, she wandered into a yoga class thinking it was going to be too easy for her, and that yoga was “stretching on the floor.” After having her ass handed to her, she was hooked. Not only was the physical challenge appealing, she discovered yoga was a way of being, not something you do for 90 minutes on a mat. Ally is a Santa Monica-based yoga teacher, writer and life coach, who connects daily with yogis all around the world via her online yoga classes. She's the co-creator of YogisAnonymous.com, which has been featured in The New York Times, Yoga Journal, Self Magazine, Shape Magazine and The Wall Street Journal. She's a regular contributor for The Huffington Post and Positively Positive, a wellness expert at MindBodyGreen, and writes an almost-daily blog at http://blog.yogisanonymous.com. She's the mama of two amazing kids and one energetic Labradoodle. She’s very excited about her next book, “Yoga’s Healing Power: Looking Inward for Change, Growth and Peace” due from Llewellyn Worldwide in 2016.

paperback. Etat : Good. Our good condition books are generally good for reading but not for gifting or collecting. They could have imperfections such as creasing, fanning, inscriptions, margin notes, yellowing, staining on edge or cover or pages, bumps, scuffs, etc etc (sometimes multiple of these). It's a wide category that encompasses anything that isn't almost-new down to anything that is slightly better than poor. We would NOT recommend gifting Good books - these should be considered reading copies. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). We aim to dispatch prompty, the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries, see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only.
