Dr. Jerry A. Young, Professor Emeritus of Tuba and Euphonium and has served on the faculty of University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire since 1983 teaching applied tuba and euphonium. From 1983–1993 he served on the faculty of the Interlochen Arts Camp. Additionally, Dr. Young has served as President of ITEA as well as a member of its Board Directors and as Editor-in-Chief of the ITEA Journal. For Encore Music Publishers, Dr. Young has edited the Complete Arban Method for Tuba, Kopprasch 60 Studies for Tuba, Op. 6, and the premiere and only edition of the Kopprasch 60 Studies for Tuba, Op.5. Dr. Young has appeared across the U.S., Europe, and Japan as a soloist, chamber musician, clinician, lecturer, and adjudicator. He was selected as the 1999 Distinguished Alumnus of the University of Arkansas Department of Music and is a Fellow of the Fulbright Academy of the University of Arkansas. Wesley Jacobs began his orchestral career with the San Francisco Opera Orchestra from 1968–1970. He studied at the University of California, Long Beach and at the Juilliard School. In 1970, he was appointed Principal Tuba of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra by then Music Director Sixten Ehrling. Possessing a beautiful tone, thoughtful phrasing, and an exceptional sense of balance, he supported the Detroit Symphony with unwavering excellence. Mr. Jacobs performed under six different Music Directors and can be heard on over 60 recordings with the DSO. Mr. Jacobs is a recipient of the University of California’s Lifetime Achievement in Music / Distinguished Artist Award; an award which recognizes his volume of work with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the San Francisco Opera. Wesley Jacobs is President and CEO of Encore Music Publishers.
