In Psalm 116, David recalls a troubling season of life, where sorrow overshadowed salvation and death seemed much closer than deliverance. In recounting God's rescue and redemption in his life, David then pivots to praising God while seeking a way to live his life as a thank offering to God for his graciousness and deep blessing. We, too, face troubling seasons, deep trials and moments of acute crisis. And we have also been rescued and redeemed through the gracious work of Jesus Christ. As we remember our own seasons of struggle, we can be encouraged that we are never alone. Then, like David, we can ask the question of how we might live in response to the incredible blessing we have in Jesus. This month-long devotional intends to bring us to a place of remembrance of our own rescue by God so that we might be launched into a life that is a worthy response to His gift.My prayer is that Psalm 116 will find us becoming reacquainted with our trials, reminded of our blessings, and recommitted to living the life we're called to as children of God.
