Originally from the south of England, Peter Ashby resided in the English border county of Cumbria for many years and now lives in Andalucia, southern Spain. His first novel, "The Name of Seven", is an epic fantasy that draws on his love of the English Lake District and the Spanish city of Granada; "Slashness Calling", his second novel, is a lighthearted comedy set in the far north of Scotland. Peter works as an English teacher but in addition he has had a diverse working life ranging from illustrator to registered mental health nurse, model painter to freelance writer and animal welfare worker. He is qualified in environmental management as well as mental healthcare and has a diverse range of interests which include history, nature, gardening and environmental issues and walking in the hills which surround his home. In addition to his works of fiction he writes articles on subjects including tourism in Andalucia, horticulture and history.
