In Beyond Competition, renowned Irish dancer Craig Ashurst taps the knowledge and experience of Irish performers worldwide to present aspiring Irish dancers, singers and musicians with the ultimate guide on how to conquer the challenges and realize the rewards of showcasing their talents as professionals. Craig covers all aspects of turning professional – from the auditioning process to fitness and nutrition – and provides a behind-the-scenes look at life on the road. He also sprinkles the book with anecdotes and advice culled from his own remarkable career. Beyond Competition unmasks the mystery of turning professional by putting you behind the curtain as it shares the intimate recollections and invaluable insight of notable Irish performers as the framework for a broad review of all aspects of moving from student to competitor to professional artist. At once entertaining, motivational and instructive, Craig Ashurst’s Beyond Competition is a “must have” for all Irish dancers and other performers who dream of displaying their talents on the Big Stage.
