Synopsis

This is a story of a young girl faced with terrible choices and impossible odds during the last days of Hitler's "final solution." The Nazi purge of Jews in Holland is under way and 12-year-old Sophie is hiding in her family's Amsterdam apartment. Her father has immigrated to South Africa to seek work and send for his family. Sophie's mother has been taken away by soldiers. And then the Nazis arrive and begin pounding on doors demanding that all Jews come out.

Wayne Edward Hanson was a magazine writer and editor for 25 years and who now writes fiction. He has published four books, including two short story collections, Medicine Dreams a novel about logging in the 1950s, and The Incarnation of Edda Ritter, about a young woman coming of age in Germany during World War I. The Biscuit Tin is a novel about a 12-year old Jewish girl during the last days of Hitler's so-called final solution.
