Dr. Michael Burnside is the Founding and Senior Pastor of New Name Missionary Baptist Church which he was led to begin in February of 1987. He was also the Founding President of New Cities Community Development Corporation and President of Ginger Ridge Mutual Housing Association. He has served on numerous Boards and Advisory Committees. He earned his Masters Degree in Theology and Doctorate in Pastoral Counseling. He capped off a thirty eight year career with Allstate Insurance as the former and only CRA Officer for Allstate Bank where he served in that position for ten years. He also served as Regional Foundation Chair for The Allstate Foundation while also serving in the position of Communication Manager for the Midwest Region of Allstate Insurance Company. As one of the architects of the Safe Home Chicago Program he received the South Chicago Neighborhood Housing Collaborations Pioneer Awards and for work with the Chicago Police He received the Cook County Crime-stoppers Corporate Award. He has served the people of the state of Illinois by serving on the Motor Vehicle Theft Prevention Council, The Juvenile Crime Intervention Pilot Program and as a member of the Blue Ribbon panel investigating hiring and firing of police officers in the Village of Riverdale. He has been featured on the cover of Crain's Chicago Business for his work in addressing the housing needs of the South Suburbs of Chicago. He continues to serve the community today through service on the Board of Directors of Plano Child Development, Patient and Family Advisor for the American Medical Association, Advisory Council member for Metropolitan Family Services and Board of Director member at Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago.
