Synopsis

Still a young man, Evan Brom has suffered the worst loss imaginable and is just waiting out the days until his pain will be over. Consumed by grief and guilt, he sets out on his own from Chicago to take the trip that they had planned together. Ev feels as if he’s being slowly frozen from the inside out, until he ends up in the little speck-on-the-map town of Willow Bend Arizona and his soul begins to thaw. Rainey Addison, stuck for ten years in the Bend, is trying to ignore that the end of her road is getting closer and closer. In her heart she’s still the nerdy girl she was half a lifetime ago but it’s hard to fight against a world that is determined to convince her she doesn’t matter anymore. When Ev walks into Maxie’s Route 66 Roadhouse and laughs at her weird jokes she starts wanting things she thought were firmly in her rear-view mirror. For many people the Bend has been a place of comfort and healing, acceptance and love. Ev is a man who thought he’d never laugh again and Rainey is a woman who thought she could never be loved again, but in places like the Bend anything is possible.
