This is the effort to bridge the safety gap between shore and sea to save about 2.6 million seafarers life from accident, injury and death by writing this Book named " Sustainable Performance in the Hazardous Environment of Maritime Industry through Transformational Safety Leadership" Most of the maritime experts have the knowledge about the maritime Safety and most of the shore safety experts have the knowledge about the land based or off shore based industrial safety. But After 20 years serving at sea when I have completed my Masters of Engineering degree in Safety Field at University of Alabama, Birmingham, USA, I realize the safety gap between shore based safety and sea based safety. I felt that both should be linked up which can be more effective to save seafarers lives. In view of this I have written this Book. Message of this book: This book is a brief note about how to maintain a sustainable performance of the employee under the strong safety leadership on board ship or shipyard or other maritime facilities while working in the hazardous environment. This book is also bridges the safety-gap between shore and sea. The Major focus of this book is about the hazards that are involved on board ship in the maritime industry to ensure safety of maritime crew at sea. Some brief Case study described in this book for indicating the hazard that are the inherent part of this industry. Most of the hazard in this industry are due to changeable environment at the face of uncertainty. Hazard identification and control process are also described in this book in a brief form so that employee working on scene can remember the basic theme of hazard easily while working at the hazard environment. Characteristics and function of a Transformational Safety leadership are also described in this book in a brief form that can help as a ready note to this industry leader. An Excellent Maritime Safety Circle model is developed in this book for the maritime industry which named “Rahman’s Maritime Safety Circle model”. This model briefly covers all the Maritime related regulatory sectors that are ensuring safety of life at sea. This model will provide the idea about the safe zone and resilience of maritime safety to the readers of this book about this industry. Hazard triangle with mathematically formulated explanation, Dynamic balancing of safety related to productivity and the dynamic balancing element for safety in the maritime industry are also briefly described in this book. It is believed that, this book will be a useful note for the people who are dedicated for this industry to move forward in a safer way.
