A valiant Crusader knight wearying of the long journey on foot home to England from the Holy Land after the Third Crusade decides to retire to a monastery in Greece. There he will write his eyewitness account of the heroic battles between Richard the Lionheart, King of England, and the mighty Salah al-Din. Centuries later an anonymous collector engages a French bookdealer to find that original rare manuscript and to smuggle it out of Greece. When the bookdealer is found dead in his flat in Bordeaux and the ruins of an ancient monastery in an isolated valley in Greece are mysteriousy disturbed, Commissaire Pierre Rousseau and Chief Inspector Antonia Antoniarchis begin their third investigation together in the endless quest to prevent precious ancient artefacts from being stolen away from Greece.
